OUR STORYKen Neumann is a wood worker, teacher, and supporter of the Lancaster County Conservancy. He resides in Lancaster, PA with his wife and their three children.
Ken discovered his talents as a young boy. He worked closely with his father and watched him working in the garage with the very same hand tools that Ken now uses today. The sound of a hand plane gliding smoothly across a board as a paper thin curl emerged from the wood is forever ingrained in Ken’s memory. Likewise, he now thoroughly enjoys passing these talents on to his young boys. As Ken followed his passion through high school he received more classical training, graduating with an Associates in the Arts degree specializing in Fine Woodworking. After several years perfecting his trade as a cabinet maker he sought out to further his education and pursued his love of learning and sharing his talents with today’s youth. He then earned his Bachelors of Science in Technology Education and Masters Degree in Technology Education. Ken is a middle school Technology Education teacher in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Through sharing his talents Ken stays true to the lessons he learned early on. As he remembers his father sharing, “In order to “listen” to the wood, you need to close your eyes and really feel the board”. It is this unique combination of classical training, talent and life long lessons that helps Ken create the unique custom pieces that he has shared with you today. |
